geoff-emerick-richard-lush-photo2017 marks the anniversary of what is arguably one of the greatest albums of all time. It’s hard to think when I first heard it, but like a couple of other albums that come to mind Coldplay’s Viva La Vida record and Springsteen’s iconic Born To Run it took a while to come to terms with the genius behind it. Which album am I talking about? The one, the only, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart’s Club Band. Released on June 1 1967, the album has stood the test of time with such great classics as ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’, ‘Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds’ and ‘A Day in the Life’ (one of the greatest endings to an album with the illusive final E chord)

For two nights at Planetshakers in Southbank in February 2017, Geoff Emerick and Richard Lush two of the producers in the control room whilst the genius of Lennon and McCartney worked, will be heading to Melbourne for a panel discussion alongside Alan Howe (former editor of the Herald Sun). In addition to this, Melbourne rock legend Davey Lane (You Am I) will be slaying some acoustic tunes and the man that you made feel like dancing Leo Sayer will adjudicate an audience Q and A.

This is a must do event for an Aussie Beatles fan to gain an insight into what went down at Abbey Road studios throughout November 1966 and April 1967. If that wasn’t enough to convince you, a string quartet will play Beatles classics before the talk. More news as it comes to hand.
