Rudimental To Bring The Fire Down Under In 2019!

Kesi from Rudimental is at home in London when we begin to talk about the return of the band with new album Toast To Our Differences, hitting the world in late January 2019.  At the tail end of a few UK dates, we begin to chat about how the new songs have been going down in the set and what the reaction has been from the audiences so far.

“They are feeling really good, we are halfway through our UK tour, actually more than halfway we just have the London dates left. The new songs are sounding great though and I think that’s something that we’ve always done. An example of this is ‘Waiting All Night’ which we used to play before it came out and that used to go down well. The reactions we’ve been getting makes me really excited for the album” Kesi said.

So far we’ve heard a few tracks off the album and as you’d expect, it’s true to form Rudimental. Big drums, swelling vocal harmonies and just great sunshine-y vibes. No doubt it will be a highlight album of 2019 with so many collaborations already been announced from the singles we have seen. From Anne Marie and Mr Eazi to Tom Walker, Jess Glynne and Macklemore, Rudimental have a definite knack for getting some of the biggest names on their tracks. So how does those partnerships form?

“Alot of that is becoming friends on the road or performing at different festivals, you meet people. Dizzie Rascall we knew from when we were young. All different situations and different scenarios that present themselves to us which gives us a platform to collaborate. We always keep our eyes and ears open to new amazing artists that are coming out. When we are out in Australia, we will be looking for an Australian artist too.”

The 2019 Toast To Our Differences tour which hits Margaret Court Arena on Friday February 8 is only the tip of the iceberg, with the band hitting up stadiums around the country over just under a two week period. Having sold out Wembley, played Glastonbury and brought the fire to their previous Australian tours, this is going to be something extra special.

“To have a new record coming out and to be on our way to Australia two weeks later feels amazing. Australia has always supported us, it’s our second home. It feels only right to give you guys the new album and the new show for supporting us all along the journey.”

One of the biggest tracks of the band’s career is ‘Feel The Love’ which features the British powerhouse John Newman. When they were writing the track however, they were unaware of the traction that the song would have commercially following release. “At the time when you’re writing you don’t really think about it, but by the end of the day you can normally tell. With all of our big songs , I just remember bouncing about the studio and thinking that we were onto something good.”
