Mumford and Sons ‘The Wolf’ First Listen

Mumford and Sons are about to release their third album entitled Wilder Mind  on May 1st and having released the first single ‘Believe’, they have just this morning given us another taste of what to expect from the release. First thing that you can hear, is that there is no banjo or mandolin. In an effort to reinvent themselves with this third album, they have gone electric and the sound although is quite different and shocking when you first hear it, I think that this will be a sound that will work positively for the band looking forward.

Sounding like a cross between Coldplay and Kings of Leon this new ‘Stadium Rock’ branded sound is a welcome change to the folky mandolin and banjo that we have become accustomed to over the past two albums Babel and Sigh No More which spawned the #1 smash hit ‘Little Lion Man’. Recorded at AIR Studios in London with James Ford who has worked with the likes of HAIM, Arctic Monkeys and Florence and the Machine to name but just a few, it will be interesting to see what the rest of the album throws up to us. Rumored to be touring Australia for some select dates late in 2015, keep your eyes peeled to the Night Vibe as we review the record as soon as it hits the ground.

In the meantime, get your chops around their latest single ‘The Wolf’ below
