Montaigne Although Has Clipped Her Wings Is Ready To Fly

Montaigne is a star on the rise. Having released her latest tune Clip My Wings ,which pretty much has blown up the internet and the radio, given it’s instant contagious and delectable nature, she is currently on the road touring around the country in support. I recently got the opportunity to sit down with the songstress and we began to chat about the success of the latest single. With a very comical chuckle about said comment of breaking the internet, Montaigne is quite taken back by the success of the song. “It’s funny that you say that the track has had that much success. I wrote that whilst I was working with my producer Tony Buchan in the studio. Tony had this guitar part that he wanted to get down and I was having a very emotional day because I just received this very infuriating email from someone, that I was having very difficult dealings with at the time.  I ended up writing the song then and there in the studio and the lyrics came very naturally and quickly.”

From an objective point of view, Montaigne had no idea how big the song was going to get and in the past few weeks, it has been the most played track on Triple J. As one of the biggest up and coming electro pop artists of 2015, after writing the track, everybody in her camp was very excited about the new release and knew that they were onto a winner. “Record labels are very stoical and they don’t freak out over nothing and Tony is very passionate and believing in his producing, if he thinks something, he will tell you. I was given reason to hope that this track would do something, and it’s great to see that everybody is loving it as well.”

Touring throughout October and November, Montaigne is set to play at the Northcote Social club on Friday November 6th. This tour takes in both all and overage shows which is something of a rarity these days as most bands tend to just play the late inght pub circuit. Talking about the difference of playing these kind of shows however, Montaigne speaks excitedly about all ages shows and what you can expect as a performer. “A lot of my fans are younger and so it’s awesome to be able to play some shows to them. Young people are not jaded or cynical about anything, and they just have fun at shows. I saw San Cisco play at the Enmore Theatre, which is a massive venue and it was all ages and the place was just full of cheering and dancing and they have such a good time at shows. It’s nice to know there will be that happening. Adults have their moments, but it’s usually because their drunk.”

Without further ado, make sure you check out Clip My Wings Below and hit up a show when Montaigne hits your area. This lady is full of ebullience and definitely puts on a rocking show.
