Dream Your Life Away

A ukulele playing and acoustic music lover myself, this Vance Joy album review was always bound to be a little biased. It’s no secret that he is one of the biggest musicians in the world scene today and is about to converge on a US tour before playing Falls and Southbound as well as touring in March next year. Dream Your Life Away has been the feature album on many websites over the past week or so, since it’s release and has been on repeat in my car and Itunes for the last week.

‘Opening with Winds Of Change’ the song that confirmed that Vance Joy could do this for a living. DYLA is an impressive collection of songs. Many tracks feature a diverse range of instrumentation and the recording process took in many studios throughout the US, Canada and Mexico. ‘Mess is Mine’ and ‘Riptide’ are present on this release and although they have previously racked up huge support around the world, it doesn’t seem to bring the album down at all. It’s to put it simply, a great list of tunes.

Chances are, you’ve already got the CD and have tickets to Falls or a Vance Joy headline show next year. If you don’t, I’d get this disc. It is a strong contender for album of the year. If you missed the interview with Joy, grab a copy of the last issue with Illy on the front cover. An international superstar in the making, with a great debut. Haters gonna hate, but this disc is grand. Check out it, whilst it’s still hip to!
