Deep Sea Arcade – Outlands

From the very bar of the title track, Outlands, the debut album by 60’s influenced Sydney rockers, Deep Sea Arcade is a great listen. The single ‘Steam’ which was been receiving considerable airplay on Triple J over the past couple of weeks will have you tapping your feet and dancing around your lounge room in no time.

The first time I put this in my car stereo, I knew that I was in for something special having already seen this band support The John Steel Singers a few years before hand.  There are many highlights on this album and along the way some comparisions to Tame Impala’s debut Innerspeaker can be drawn in terms of guitar tones and melodies.

Other favourites on the album include Lonely In Your Arms. Seen No Right, Ride and If The Devil Won’t Take You. It may be a little bit early to predict album of the year however I think that Outlands, is definitely a strong contender.
