Band of Skulls- Himalayan

Ever since their debut album, I have always been hooked on Band of Skulls. From Russell’s vintage guitar collection, to the ball tearing and head banging anthems such as ‘I Know What I Am’ and ‘Death by Diamonds and Pearls’, there has always been something that hooks you into their music.

With the release of their third album entitled Himalayan, Band of Skulls is back bigger than ever with another set of refined bluesy rock grooves. Opening with ‘Asleep at the Wheel’ you are immediately transported into this other rocking world that feels great and that every day is the weekend. Smooth vocal harmonies ring out in ‘Hoochie Coochie’ as the bass and drums thunder along.

‘I Guess I Know You Fairly Well’ is quite a slow burner of a track and throughout it’s three and a half minute duration, turns into one solid rock number. Chances are you’ve heard of Band of Skulls and if you haven’t picked up this record yet, its definitely one to add to the collection. The one time that I saw Band Of Skulls was on a double bill with The Black Keys whilst living in London. Who knows whether that concert line-up will ever happen again, but I recommend if you like your guitar crunchy, and your rhythm section solid. Himalayan is definitely a record to check out.
