Album Review – Benjamin Francis Leftwich – Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm

Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm by Benjamin Francis Leftwich (BFL) is a good debut album. First discovering him on a recommendation from a friend whilst abroad last year, I was instantly hooked by the melodies of ‘Shine’ which was one of the main singles off the album. Having been named as album of the week on BBC Radio 1, BFL is a name that you should become all too familiar with as he plays shows around the country in the next couple of months.

Opening with ‘Pictures’, Last Smoke is an album in which you would listen to on a lazy Sunday afternoon or when you are seeking some rest and relaxation from your busy working life. ‘Stole You Away’ features some lovely slide guitar work and combined the husky vocals of 22 year old Leftwich, this album is definitely going to break through the underground scene soon enough.

Check this mellow acoustic debut out, so you can say that you were listening to BFL before it was cool to.
